If you want to ensure that the back strap stays securely attached to the boot shell in all situations, this can be achieved by swapping the ball rivets to flat rivets. Attaching the back strap with the flat rivets and cutting off any extra strap length beyond the rivet closure will ensure the strap stays closed.
But keep in mind that it’s not quick to open the flat rivets once they are attached (you need a screwdriver to undo them), so make sure you get the fit right when putting the flat rivets on.
Make sure to check the rivets periodically, to make sure they stay securely fastened. If you want to make sure that the flat rivets stay closed, you can add thread locker glue into the screw at the time of application.
Flat rivets are not included in the standard Flex Boot set when you purchase a boot, but they can be purchased separately.
